Now that we got the RSVP and Lodging out of the way, here is some extra information about the event.
Kentucky never disappoints! Get ready to join us on this thrilling driving adventure in Kentucky, making the weekend getaway return for a fifth year, this time to the beloved Pine Mountain State Resort Park in Pineville, KY (Don’t confuse it with Pikeville!). Come to enjoy an almost private stay with 40 rooms reserved for our enthusiasts on a resort nestled in the forest. Ever driven on a road that’s also a Hill Climb SCCA track? Here’s your chance to rev up your mornings and unwind in the afternoons on this exclusive, winding curvy mountain road.
The State Park where the hotel is located offers many trails (fourteen to be exact), including the Chain Rock Trail, which provides an amazing view of Pineville. The trail (and other activities) might be a good opportunity to bring family to spend the day exploring the resort while you’re exploring the roads. The hotel’s pool is also inviting on a summer day!
Prepare to traverse 600 miles of breathtaking mountain passes and secret byways, where you’ll encounter wonders like the Devil’s Triangle and gaze upon the formidable Nada Tunnel, we will also drive the Revenue Runner, the Eye of the Dragon, in the Red River Gorge Geological Area and many more undisclosed roads.
The roads themselves are the highlight of this event, but hear me out: On Friday evening, we will have dinner in downtown Pineville, which is near to the hotel, followed by a downtown block party with reserved parking for the Porsches to put on a show for the neighborhood. We will have lunch at a wonderful place surrounded by the Natural Bridge State Park Forest on Saturday, and a Tech-Quiz with a Grand Prize to the winner, followed by a banquet dinner at the hotel so that we can connect and make memories under the stars. On Sunday, we'll have a great view of the lake! Lunch will be served in an amazing marina restaurant, and the event will conclude on a floating Sports Bar & Restaurant later in the afternoon, but not too late!
We'll make a quick stop at the Historic Brushy Mountain State Prison on Sunday afternoon as we travel the Devil's Triangle. If you've had enough driving for the weekend and want to skip the floating bar, I highly recommend paying a visit to the abandoned prison. You may find out more at https://tourbrushy.com/
For this event, we are asking for a $30 donation (per car). With your donation, 20% will be donated to Backroads of Appalachia - The Backroads of Appalachia is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a passion for the Appalachian Region. Through motorsports-focused tourism, they work to drive economic development, job training, and opportunity in the impoverished areas of Appalachia. Backroads of Appalachia is based in Lynch, Kentucky, in Harlan County — one of the poorest counties in Kentucky. The remainder you will be funding Wilderness Trail Region, also a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, which will use the funds to cover costs organizing this and future events.
The donation is entirely optional.
