ABOUT THE EVENT
While iconic models like the 911 cemented Porsche’s reputation worldwide, the brand’s two best-selling vehicles today are the MACAN and CAYENNE. It’s easy to see why. They deliver the perfect blend of performance, luxury, and everyday usability, proving that Porsche DNA translates exceptionally well to the SUV segment.
One of the most popular and fun events on our calendar is SUV Day, an experience dedicated exclusively to Macans and Cayennes. Officially, we’ve hosted six of these events (seven if you count an “unofficial” one – it was a SUV Day but we called something else), and each has pushed the boundaries of what a Porsche SUV can do. We’ve tackled twisty mountain roads, explored forest and service roads, climbed mountains in search of snow (There is it! The unofficial one!) and turned a 274-acre farm into our personal playground with creek crossings, downhill descents, and more.
You asked and we’re delivering: SUV Day #7 is going big. This time, it’s a multi-day, overnight adventure in DEALS GAP. That’s right. We’re bringing our “bulky” Porsches to legendary roads like the TAIL OF THE DRAGON, the CHEROHALA SKYWAY, the HELLBENDER the FOOTHILLS PARKWAY and other iconic routes. But before the pavement thrills, we’ll take on a few carefully selected FOREST SERVICE ROADS in the Smoky Mountains for an off-the-beaten-path experience you won’t forget.
Our HQ to this event is the FONTANA VILLAGE RESORT.
Bring your Macan or Cayenne. Bring the family, kids, grandkids, even the pets. We’ll be driving both Saturday and Sunday through some of the most scenic roads and trails on the East Coast.
SUVs, the Porsche way.
LODGING
Given the size of this event, the logistics involved, and our proximity to the forest roads we will be driving, Fontana Village Resort is the ideal home base for this adventure. The event will officially begin on Saturday (June20) at 8:30 a.m. in the Fontana Village resort parking lot, though we strongly recommend arriving at the resort on Friday (June 19) to settle in and enjoy the area. Due to its privileged location (nested in the forest) and the limited number of hotels in that area, rooms can sell out quick, so hurry up! If you want to join the WTR crew in Kingsport on Friday, check the agenda below.
We have negotiated a discounted group rate and secured a block of 50 rooms.
If you would like to request specific room/cabin numbers, or extend your reservations beyond the group block, please contact the front desk at (800) 849-2258 after you have made your reservation via the booking link above. Our group code is WILDERNESSJUNE2026

RADIO
Please remember to bring a radio (2-way radio / walkie-talkie / FRS radio) with you to the event — even if you think you won’t need it. Radios are a key safety and coordination tool during our drives.
A popular and affordable option is the BaoFeng UV-5R (8-watt) with the extended 1800mAh battery, which can be found for under $40 on Amazon.
Other recommended models include the Radioddity FS-T1 and the Midland LXT630VP3.
Radio Channel / Frequency
If you are using a BaoFeng UV-5R and are unable to program or access frequency 462.662, please let us know and we will help with the setup. Email pcawtr@gmail.com for assistance.
