ABOUT THE EVENT

This will be an experience like no other. It will surprise you, terrify you, and make you wonder what it would’ve been like to be locked up in here for the rest of your life. Former prison guards and former inmates will be nearby to answer questions or share a brief story. There are more than 30 stations, each containing the story of what happened in that particular spot. Some will talk of violent acts, killings and others will give you a glimpse inside the troubled minds of the hardened criminals that served time at Brushy. As you move from one station to another, you'll be able to imagine what life would have been like behind these walls. These men had committed unforgivable crimes, but they still had souls. But somewhere, somehow, their lives took a wrong turn. It will be an experience you carry with you for the rest of your life.

After the tour, we will break for lunch at the Warden’s Table restaurant (onsite). That’s not a tourist trap restaurant inside of a busy location, but a southern-style food gem hidden in the mountains!

After lunch, we will walk to the Brushy Mountain Distillery (across the restaurant) and have 30 minutes for shopping. We will then head to our cars. Those who had enough and wants to go home, just let the lead drivers know and those who want to go on a drive to the Devil’s Triangle, that will add 40 minutes to your drive back home. Stay in the parking lot and wait for further instructions.

The Devil’s Triangle is made up of some of the most unusual two-lane twisty roads in TN. This 44-mile loop begins at Brushy Mountain Penitentiary and continues northeasterly for 3.5 miles. The tight twisties are as good as the Tail of the Dragon. The middle 14 miles are fairly tame with rural houses and driveways along the entire way. The next 5 miles on you'll find a little bit of everything; sweepers, tight twisties and three of the tightest/steepest switchbacks we have ever encountered.

Yes, the Triangle will get your attention in a hurry. This is no place for the beginning rider.

We will pay individually as we go through the line to check-out.

BRUSHY MOUNTAIN DISTILLERY

The world's first (Legal) prison distillery. Adult Spirits tasting bar and shopping. The distillery uses local water and grains to produce 10 varieties of Tennessee’s signature spirit, including blackberry, apple pie, and a 110-proof, unflavored version called “Scared Straight.”

A valid state ID is required to taste/purchase alcohol. The Distillery is directly across from the restaurant and open for anyone to walk in and tour with no additional charge.

DEVIL’S TRIANGLE

Home of mining disasters and a state penitentiary, this 44-mile loop uses Highway TN 116, TN 62 and TN 330. Some believe that these switchbacks are more challenging than the Dragon; it's generally easier to go clockwise when you're taking the Devil's Triangle. From gentle country road sweepers to gnarly steep switchbacks; from serene straights to Dragon like twisties with guard rails of death; from gentle pull-offs to three-foot-deep rock-strewn gullies just inches from the pavement; from peaceful farmsteads to sections of rutted roadway right out of a horror movie. The Devil’s Triangle is considered by sport-cars enthusiasts and motorcycle riders the #5 best road in TN.
